The City of Lacey acts as lead agency for animal control activities in Thurston County. Animal Services staff are considered Lacey employees. A six-member Joint Animal Control Commission, composed of representatives from each governmental agency, the local Veterinary Association and the Humane Society, provide policy guidance and budget approval. The Commission meets monthly.
