Mental Health Therapist (.75-1.0 FTE)

General Description:

The Mental Health Therapist provides individual and family therapy, group therapy to children, and their families, and may also provide case management and consultation with PCPs, schools, DHS Child Welfare, Developmental Disability Services and Self Sufficiency programs, and other community partners. Some evening and weekend hours will be required. Eligible clients may be self-referred or referred by schools, County Mental Health, DHS Child Welfare and Self Sufficiency, or the client’s PCP. Authorization for services may be required from the CCO or other payer source. Some early evenings and/or Saturdays may be required.



Education and Experience:

A Master’s or doctorate degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field is required. Working toward licensure relevant to this position, will be required. Options will reimburse the expense(s) associated with obtaining and renewing one license per service provider*. Knowledge and/or experience providing mental health services, including assessment, diagnosis and crisis response, to children, and families is required. A working knowledge of parenting skills/techniques and child development, and experience working with disadvantaged individuals and high-risk families, including work with incest, sexual abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, and domestic violence and trauma is needed. You need to have a strong understanding of available community resources and supports. You must be able to qualify as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP). You will need to successfully complete a DHS background check, which may include fingerprinting. You must have a reliable vehicle and minimum auto insurance. You must be computer proficient in a Microsoft Windows environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic medical records systems is preferred. Options Counseling and Family Services requires that all staff have respectful, open, unbiased, and accepting attitudes toward clients and their families. Candidate should be licensed or a registered intern working toward licensure.
