Internship - Manufacturing Automation
Start Date: June 19th (we are flexible)
Expected Duration: Through mid-September

Hours: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week
Pay: $16-18/hour depending on experience

ESCO is offering a great opportunity for a paid internship working with the Automation team in our Manufacturing organization focused on an existing small parts robotic cell to improve Safety, Quality and Cost.
Our Automation team is responsible for growing ESCO’s capabilities, knowledge and experience with various advanced manufacturing solutions.
Upon completion of this project, the Intern will have gained practical “hands on” experience with common industrial automation hardware and software such as Fanuc robot programming, 2D machine vision, and PLC programming in a real manufacturing environment.
Job Duties:
The Intern will work in a Manufacturing
team, coached by two engineers skilled in robotic applications,
on a targeted application to improve upon the current manual
process of grinding and inspecting small steel castings. Duties will be varied
and include:
Defining the process, including expectations and requirements for the project. Documenting current process and specific targets for improvement in safety, quality and cost.
Developing the concept(s), including cost estimates for equipment and services. Developing the scope of work, including roles and responsibilities for the project as well as longer term production and support.
Once approved, being a key member of the project team to implement the project.
Education:
- Must be a current undergraduate student entering senior year majoring in Engineering, OR current graduate student (in the Portland area) with an undergraduate degree in Engineering
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must have technical proficiency with CAD, MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (strong Excel skills required)
Effective organization, planning and priority setting skills including ability to meet deadlines
Strong attention to detail
Interest and/or background in automation
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
Other:
- Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Internship compensation includes hourly pay only (no relocation, travel, or housing stipend)
Student is responsible for working with their Academic/Career Counselor to determine if this internship is eligible for academic credit and providing their ESCO Manager with information regarding any documentation requirements
