Social Media Intern

[This is a paid part-time internship in Portland, OR for ~10 hours a week (with flexibility based on your schedule).]

You have a strong understanding of the internet and a passion for video and marketing. You’re obsessed with understanding audiences and telling good stories. You pride yourself on the quality of your work and strive for excellence.

As a Social Media Intern at Briggsby, you’ll get to work with clients that include Fortune 50 companies, leading ecommerce websites, innovative startups, and interesting small businesses. You’ll help create content for some of the best brands online.

Briggsby is a boutique marketing agency that specializes in search, content, and video. We’re looking for a passionate, smart, and motivated intern who is willing to jump in where it’s needed. Our office is located in the Pearl District in downtown Portland, OR.

This role will focus on supporting our content marketing, social media, and video production projects.

  • Content Marketing (50%)
  • Video Production (20%)
  • Social Media (20%)
  • Reporting (10%)

The Kind of Work You’ll Be Doing:

Briggsby is a small team, so you’ll have an opportunity to jump in on a variety of different projects. We provide marketing services for a small number of high-caliber clients, and you’ll be working in a support role across all our clients. Additionally, you'll be supporting the growth efforts for our new video & vlogging line of business.

  • Assisting with content marketing campaigns, including research, topic ideation, and content calendars.
  • Managing social media accounts (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, & Twitter)
  • Editing social media videos in Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere
  • Creating basic image assets in Photoshop, such as YouTube thumbnails, Instagram content, and blog post images.
  • Pulling web analytics and marketing data.
  • Proofing / editing strategy documents and presentations (Microsoft Word and PowerPoint).
  • Working as a production assistant on video shoots.

You Should Be:

  • Self-motivated – You’re willing to take a project and run with it. You aren’t afraid to ask questions when you need to understand something better, but will try to figure out the answer first.
  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal) – Most of our work is delivered in written or presentation formats, so we do a lot of writing and editing.
  • Internet-savvy – You get the internet. You likely have your own website and actively participate on social media. You’re pro at using search engines to find the answers to questions.
  • Empathetic – You love learning about people and communities, working to understand what matters to them and why.
  • Visual – You have a good eye, both for photography and design. You understand how images tell stories and you're always taking better photos than your friends and family.
  • Passionate about learning – As a small team, we wear a lot of hats. This requires constant learning.
  • Prideful - You care about your work and how it represents you. You don't just meet minimum expectations.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

  • Junior or senior undergraduate student, pursuing a degree in in Marketing, PR, Communications, Design, Film, or a related field
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Photography experience
  • Experience with Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere
  • Experience with Photoshop and Lightroom
  • Strong copy editing skills, including the ability to identify copy errors, structural issues, information gaps, tone of voice, and audience fit
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Clear background and interest in marketing and video.
