Concept Artist/Storyboard Intern

As a HouseSpecial Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience and training as you work alongside our staff artists on broadcast and digital productions. You will be supported and challenged everyday while learning to thrive in a fast-paced studio environment. Our teams move fast; we never compromise on creativity.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conceive, execute and clearly communicate design ideas via digital and/or traditional techniques.
  • Assist in contributing to the development of story and visual ideas.
  • Work with Directors to visually analyze and translate scripts, creating thumbnail sketches through to finished detailed storyboard panels.
  • Collaborate with storyboard artists, character designers and others to develop designs and look.
  • Take designs from thumbnail sketch to finished detailed artwork, incorporating Director’s notes.
  • Work to develop visual ideas for multiple types and styles of projects.
  • Help to perform background research to inform the story process.
  • Communicate effectively with production management, creative leads and technical support teams.
  • Meet deadlines as established by production management.
  • Actively safeguards HouseSpecial’s Proprietary and Confidential Information.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Completed Junior year or has graduated within the last two years with a bachelor’s degree in Animation, Film, Fine Art, Computer Science or other relevant area of study.
  • Excellent illustration skills, including perspective and technical drawing and storyboarding.
  • Good sense of color, with an eye for perspective, composition and lighting.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop.
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain consistent productivity in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Able to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Open to taking direction and able to embrace change.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, a great attitude and common sense.
