Youth Sports Program Coordinator

Job Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Program Director of Youth Development, the program coordinator will be responsible for the supervision and program implementation of youth sport programs, community partnership activities, summer camp assistance. Other responsibilities include, volunteer recruitment, training, budgeting and fiscal management of the program budget.

Working Hours:
Saturdays 7am-End of sport day 
Week day hours instructing youth programs and preparing for Youth Sport League- TBD  

Job Specifics:
  • Train, supervise and evaluate all assigned program staff and volunteers
  • Complete monthly statistical forms on programs 
  • Establish good rapport with parents and children and program participants
  • Prepare curriculum in program areas
  • Assist with volunteer training and orientation
  • Direct, conduct and evaluate classes, and programs
  • Order and stock all supplies for programs
  • Recruit volunteers for annual support campaign, family committees and other special events
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and meet budget goals and objectives
  • Develop new programming in the areas of youth and family
  • Attend all staff meetings as assigned
  • Provide safe and clean environment for children and adults
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Supervise youth programs, such as youth sports leagues and classes at the Sherwood Regional Family YMCA. 
  • Responsible for the administration of Youth Sports during all seasons, facilitate program delivery, and sustaining current programming, while developing new programs.
  • Assist in fundraising and campaign development
  • Manage the Youth Sports monthly budget. Keep track of monthly spending to assure that program supplies are replenished as needed, while remaining within the monthly budget.

Essential Functions:
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with both members and staff and give directions in an authoritative, yet tactful manner
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation
  • Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate management techniques.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to drive a 15 passenger bus.

Required Qualifications:
  • Must pass YMCA background check
  • Three years’ experience working with children and parents
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid

Preferred Qualifications:
  • College degree in related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • American Red Cross, American Heart, or ASHI certifications preferred
