Health Care Advocate

The Health Care Advocate provides direct services that include safety planning, information and referral, systems navigation, and support to survivors of intimate partner violence as they work towards safety and stability. Advocate provides immediate, compassionate support to survivors receiving services in the clinic, have access to emergency client assistance funds, and provide follow up services. The Advocate works collaboratively with partner advocate from Raphael House of Portland to provide consultation and training for healthcare providers.  

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field preferred. 
  • Familiarity with case file standards and data management in a VAWA-compliant environment.
  • This position requires skills and abilities in trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy principles and methods, resource system navigation, conflict resolution, organizational skills, and the ability to access and utilize a variety of resource materials.
  • Communication, relationship-building, community networking, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in an out-stationed environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Skills and abilities in crisis intervention, community networking, and advocacy.
  • Computer skills including keyboarding, functional ability with the internet and Microsoft Office, and experience using case management data systems.
  • Cultural competence and compassion to relate effectively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and to promote a culturally diverse environment.
  • Collaboration skills.

  • This position requires a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, reliable vehicle and ability to meet insurer safe driver standards. 
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check and driving check.
