Communications Associate-Social Media Producer

About the Role

Child Aid is looking for an enthusiastic, creative person to work with our communications team to implement Child Aid’s social media strategy and build our online brand. This part-time position will work in collaboration with the Director of Communications to plan, manage and execute Child Aid’s social media including producing weekly posts and ongoing community engagement. The Social Media Producer must be both creative and strategic in adapting the most compelling aspects of the Child Aid story to social media to increase engagement and expand Child Aid’s reach to new audiences.


Responsibilities 

●       Manage Child Aid’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) including producing weekly posts and ongoing community engagement.
●       Maintain a Social Media Calendar for planning weekly posting of original and shared content across all platforms.
●       Develop original content for social media channels. Work with Communications team and Child Aid’s Guatemalan staff to research, write and produce posts that are consistent with Child Aid’s brand.
●       Support and help develop Child Aid’s influencer strategies. Work with PR Manager to cultivate online relationships with book authors, thought leaders and social media influencers who care about literacy and education.
●       Report on social media metrics, working with the communications team to identify trends in results and opportunities for continued improvement.
 


Skills and Experience Requirements

●       1-2 years demonstrated experience managing social media platforms and/or executing social media strategies.
●       Strong research, writing and editing skills. Demonstrated experience writing for social media.
●       Passion for social media and brand storytelling.
●       Experience developing or implementing effective social media campaigns to build audiences a plus.
●       Ability to collect and analyze relevant social media metrics.
●       Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
●       Strong interpersonal communication skills with internal staff and external partners.
●       Comfort with HTML, Photoshop or other photo editing software a plus.
●       Experience working in nonprofit organizations preferred.
●       Spanish language ability a plus.
 


About the Position

The Communications Associate role is a part-time (10-15 hrs per week) contract position. The work can be done off-site with some time spent in office as needed.

Child Aid is a Portland-based international aid organization that combats poverty and illiteracy in Guatemala by working with teachers and schools to improve the quality of education for their students. We accomplish this through high-quality teacher training, book donations and support of literacy programs in some of Guatemala’s poorest and most underprivileged public schools.
