Communications Internship

Ensuring affordable, stable housing for Portlanders is the mission of the Portland Housing Bureau. We achieve our mission through policies, programs, and investments that create new affordable housing opportunities for Portlanders and stabilize people in the homes they have.

We are seeking an organized, energetic intern to support our communications team for 20 hours/week from January 2019 – June 2019 and help us tell our story through social media, web, traditional media, and more.

Qualifications
·        Enrolled in a 2 or 4-year institution, seeking a degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field
·        Clear and concise writing
·        Social media savvy
 
Responsibilities
·        Approach work and content development with a racial equity lens
·        Develop and post content for web and social media (Facebook and Twitter)
·        Research and write regular pieces for the Bureau’s blog and quarterly newsletters
·        Assist with the writing and distribution of news releases
·        Provide communications support for media events (materials, planning, etc.)
Skills
·        Excellent writing, editing, and communication
·        Strong social media experience
·        Proficient in Microsoft Office
·        Strong organizational and time management skills
·        Highly motivated, responsible, and enthusiastic
·        Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
·        (Preferred) Experience with Adobe InDesign and/or Illustrator
·        (Preferred) Skills in photography, videography, video production
